About your pen
The Dinkie Series
The Conway Stewart Dinkie, advertised as the "smallest practical fountain pen ever made" was launched in 1922. Initially available in only black and red/black mottled vulcanite, this miniature pen retailed at the princely sum of Five Shillings and sixpence. Within 12 months further variants made from casein and in a wonderful variety of exquisite colours were introduced, giving the Dinkie the distinction of being one of the world's first fountain pens to be made in a variety of colours. Although initially promoted as a waistcoat pocket pen for gentlemen, the Dinkie became the Ladies favourite pen and in the autumn of 1926, together with its matching pencil, it was also available with a lanyard for hanging around the neck. There have been a multitude of models in the Dinkie range - including a wide range of rolled gold versions. Today's model is a real delight, a characterful pen in a delightful range of colours - ideal for the purse or handbag.
The Dandy Series
A classic handcrafted Conway Stewart model, the first Dandy Fountain pens were introduced during the 1930's. Constantly refined but always retaining their original look and feel. Again produced over the decades in a variety of models they were the pen of choice for young gentlemen about town. They are today, some seventy years after first being launched, just as elegant and practical as when first introduced. Unmistakably British, the 2005 Dandy lever fill pen writes flawlessly and is a very good size for the jacket pocket.
The Fifty Eight Series
The Conway Stewart Fifty Eight was first conceived in 1949. Beautifully contoured profile and smart trim made this an instant success of its time. That style has since proved timeless, as it continues to this day to be ever popular with our customers. When we considered relaunching this highly popular model we looked at ways of improving its original design. Finding none we decided on a perfect replica of the original pen with solid hallmarked gold rings. Always appreciated for its simple elegance and fine balance the handcrafted Fifty Eight is an example of great British pen making. Available in either classic black or more contemporary colours this is a delightful, smart pen for everyday use.
The Duro Series
First launched in 1924, the Duro is a timeless classic British pen from Conway Stewart, the right size for the pocket and treasured by both the men and women who use this pen in their daily professional lives. Its elegant lines are pure 1920's, but are as contemporary and valid today as when the pen was first designed. Handmade from resin with solid hallmarked 18 carat gold rings and nib, all bearing the British Assay Office mark, each pen is sent to the Assay office for testing and confirmation of the 18 carat gold fitments used in the pen. The Duro has all the characteristics of a lovely classic pen, and writes with a fluid and clear flow. A pure joy to both use and behold.
The One Hundred Series
First created in 1954 the One Hundred has been reintroduced to celebrate Conway Stewarts centenary year in 2005. Although historians may argue about the subject, the One Hundred was one of the all time favourite Conway Stewarts and we considered it fitting to reintroduce the One Hundred now as we approach our hundred year birthday celebrations. The One Hundred is today appreciated for the same classic lines, fine balance, and easy writing as it was half a century ago. The beautiful finish and flawless perfection of these handmade pens are part of Conway Stewart's proud heritage. The 2004 One Hundred has three distinctive solid hallmarked gold bands further enhancing its elegance and style. A pen we are proud to associate with the hundredth anniversary of our creation.
The Churchill Series
British Prime Minister Winston Churchill is believed to have used a Conway Stewart throughout the war years. This substantial handmade resin pen with solid hallmarked gold bands and 18 carat gold nib is made in his honour. The large nib and writing quality of the Conway Stewart Churchill will please even the most discerning connoisseur. In addition to classic black this pen comes in various colours, and has recently been presented to President Putin of Russia and President Jacques Chirac of France by Prime Minister Tony Blair. As great and individual as the man it's named after - the Churchill is a true British classic.
The Silver Duro Series
The Silver Duro will have a significant claim to fame in Conway Stewart's future. "I liked the product so much - I bought the company" was a famous statement by the late Victor Kyam of Remington. The same applied to one of the new investors who now own Conway Stewart. The silversmith's art is shown superbly in our Silver Duro range. The Silver Duro is handcrafted from rods of solid silver overlaid with a delicately translucent resin veneer. This creates a stunning visual effect as the metal shimmers light back through the colour. The pens are fitted with rhodium plated 18ct gold nibs.
