Henry Simpole手掛けるThe Jasmin Pen — 限定エディション
Henry Simpoleの遺産管理人と協力し、Conway Stewartは、彼自身のコレクションからのオリジナル作品であるオーバーレイペンをごく僅かながらご提供できることを大変嬉しく思う。昨年は残りわずかとなっていたWilliam Morrisペンが数日で完売し、今回はThe Jasmin Penをご紹介する — スターリングシルバー製8本、ヴェルメイユ製5本のみのご用意である。
デザインと職人技
Henryは2000年代初頭に名高いSnakeペンを制作した後、このペンをデザインした。The Jasmin Penは、ジャスミンの花の葉が持つ穏やかな美しさを映し出すようデザインされている。この立体的な模様は、彼ならではの独自の美意識を見事に体現している。スターリングシルバー製で、各ペンにはロンドン検定局(London Assay Office)の完全なホールマークとHenryの個人イニシャル(HCS)が刻まれており、その品質と真正性を保証している。
特徴的なディテール
このJasminペンのバレルとキャップには、現代のペン業界では極めて希少な素材である赤いヴァルカナイトが使用されている。伝統的に、20世紀初頭のペンメーカーはヴァルカナイト(多くは赤)またはエボナイト(多くは黒)を用いてペンを製作していた。このハードラバー素材には独特の香りがあり、ヴィンテージペンならではの趣を思い起こさせる。写真では、スターリングシルバーのオーバーレイと見事に調和するこのマット仕上げの赤い素材が持つ本当の美しさを伝えきることはできない。
心を込めた追悼
このペンは、Writing Equipment Societyの創設メンバーの一人であるJasmin Cameronに敬意を表して名付けられた。彼女の助言、優しさ、そして支えが、Henryがペン作りの道を志すきっかけとなった。この限定エディションは、彼女が初期に与えてくれた励ましへの、Henryからの追悼の作品である。
カスタマイズオプション
各ペンには18ctゴールドのConway Stewartペン先が搭載され、極細字(EF)・細字(F)・中字(M)・太字(B)から選択できる。イタリック、スタブ、オブリークの特別研磨オプションも用意しており、お好みの書き味に仕上げることができる。
また、バレルにはカルトゥーシュがあり、短い名前やイニシャル、日付を彫刻することができる。このオプションを選ぶ場合は「Barrel Engraving」を選択のこと。
